Hey lovelies! So, I got sent these samples from Mo’ Mineral – foundation powders, a blush and a lipstick. This is a review of these products, and I was excited to try them out!
About the company
Momineral® UK Limited was established based on the principle that makeup for dark skin should even out the skin tone, provide nourishment and protection while enhancing natural beauty!
Being a woman of colour myself, I was delighted when I received these. I believe it’s great that more and more makeup lines for WOC (women of colour) are arising and our needs are getting acknowledged more in the makeup industry. Although there are still some brands that fail to comply and produce makeup for WOC) e.g the Tarte Shape Tape concealer controversy, brands like this really makes me happy!
I got sent the shades Umuhle, Beauty, Skoonheid and Kyaungani.
Umuhle: The darkest shade I was sent, and it matched me perfectly!
Beauty: The lightest shade, I love using it to highlight my face.
Kyaungani: A shade lighter than Umuhle. This could also be used for my skin tone as well.
Skoonheid: Has more of a yellow undertone.
These powders are great, I loved all of them. The only problem was Beauty for me because it was a bit patchy. But other than that, they are easy to apply, no problem with blendability and stays on for long.
I got sent Upendo, which is a stunning, almost fuchsia, shade of pink. It looked great on me and it’s perfect for WOC as most blushes can be too light to apply to my face. It also has amazing pigmentation. I was kinda blown away by it. I ended up applying too much to one side of my face. So, this needs to applied lightly. Which is great because it means it will last longer! It also has some kind of shimmer in there.
This shade of lipstick is called Hot and the name suits the shade! This is my favourite because it’s like a bright orange shade and so cute! It swiped on with ease, and didn’t crack up my lips. It’s moisturizing and shimmery. My only problem with it was how many times I had to reapply the product. Other than that, this is like the perfect quirky shade and it feels so …summery and springy. Which is ideal for the season we are about to enter.
Altogether, I loved these products and will definitely be using them in the future. I love what this brand represents and how it highlights the issue regarding more variety of shades in the makeup industry for women of colour.
